Sustainability Series: How You Can Make Every Day Earth Day While At Work

After a year of working from home, some people are looking forward to getting back to the office. As we shift into this transitional period while companies navigate the future of the workplace, here are some tips to make your work life more sustainable.

Go Easy on Printing
The average office worker uses 10,000 sheets of paper each year and 45% of paper printed ends up in the trash by the end of the day. Printing might seem mundane - but it’s expensive, wasteful, and harmful to the environment. Next time you go to hit “Print,” ask yourself: Do you need to print out that document or will a digital copy suffice?

Think Before You Send Unnecessary Emails
Emails are a contributor to energy consumption which impacts carbon emissions. While they’re not as big a threat as cloud storage or powering your laptop, sending fewer emails can help contribute to the fight against climate change in a small way.

Work From Home When (and If) You Can
Telecommuting isn’t accessible for everyone, but if you can work from home, WE encourage you to do it. It saves time, money, and energy, as long as you stick to your sustainable habits while at home.

Take Meetings Outside
Meetings can be a bummer. Meetings inside a drab office are an even bigger bummer. Get some sun, reduce your use of office lighting, get in some exercise, and even boost your creativity by taking meetings with colleagues or clients outside!

That’s a wrap on our Sustainability Series! Be sure to check out our other posts on how to live a more planet-friendly life at home, on the go, with your lifestyle, and with your family. WE hope you’ll keep making Earth Day every day.
